Sports Physiotherapy
What is sports physiotherapy?
Sports physiotherapy specialises in the treatment, rehabilitation and further prevention of injuries and complaints sustained during sporting activities.
Sports injuries differ from everyday injuries due to the greater stress put on muscles, joints and bones through participation in sports.
What is a sporting injury?
The most common injuries associated with sports include ligament sprains, strains, tears, joint injuries and over-use injuries.
Sporting injuries can be acute, chronic or just a niggle that refuses to disappear. Our Physiotherapists have the skills, knowledge and experience to get you back on track as soon as is physically possible.
How can sports physiotherapy help you?
We treat all abilities from athletes to ramblers or anyone involved in recreational activities, whether retired or at school. Our Physiotherapists don’t just treat people with sporting injuries, with in-depth understanding of biomechanics and movement patterns, they treat everyone. They are trained to treat a complete range of musculoskeletal complaints. Common injuries seen in clinic include:

What can you expect from sports physiotherapy treatment?
Our Sports Physiotherapists will assess and treat the cause of your injury allowing you to build the strength, mobility, balance and co-ordination required to return to your sport pain-free and to help prevent further injury.
Our priority is to get you back to health as soon as possible. So our physiotherapists will take a full assessment of your injury, getting to the potential cause and devise a thorough and appropriate treatment plan based on their findings, to enable a full, speedy recovery.
Rehabilitation can begin once a firm diagnosis has been made. This may involve hands-on treatment to ease any stiffness and pain, allowing you to move better by removing strain from the overloaded area.
Making a full recovery requires commitment and may involve strength and control exercises. The control is key and our trained Physiotherapists will ensure you have all the tools you need to make your recovery journey as targeted and pain free.
